Holy shit, EA, this is *dark*

This is the most bullshit circlejerky cliched response. "LOL KEK JUST DON'T BUY IT."

Guess what? Some of these people you're trying to snark at do just that. They don't buy it. And it doesn't make a damned bit of difference. It's not even about someone else's apathy. It's about the fact that we've reached the point where you don't even have the choice of being apathetic.

Conglomerates are where it's at now. You used to be able to just play games. Now you have to wonder if it's going to be a game on Ubisoft's Uplay or if it's on EA's Origin or if it's on Valve's Steam. It used to just be "I want to play a game" and then you played it. You put in the CD or DVD you paid for and you got to play a god damned game. You didn't have to make a fuckin political statement.

But it's not just gaming. It's everything. Ben and Jerry are cool guys. They'll make weed ice cream! They get us. That's cool, maaan. Just kidding. They're owned by Unilever. The same guys who make Axe Body Sprays. Those douches. And also own Slim Fast so you can eat all that weed ice cream and then lose that weight the next afternoon by skipping lunch with a meal replacement shake.

This is what capitalism is now. And game developers don't get to make major releases without the funding of publishers like EA or Ubisoft. If you don't like that, you get to take the risk on Early Access and Kickstarter games where you might not ever get anything.

But hey, you get to make an easy karma comment and pretend like you're in the know. In reality, if you want to play a game now, you either get to be a forever alone basement dweller and don't play with your friends because all the major titles are under an umbrella publisher and pretend like you're cool and anti-corporation or you just try to play a god damned fuckin game because that's what people fuckin wanted to do in the first place instead of figuring out which socioeconomic policy you support and want to write on a placard to hold up at an Occupy protest.
