The reasoning behind this is because many games that try to show a sympathetic character trough lazy writing shows how they are kind to animals, taking care of dogs and shit. Even another example from the the very same game is where Abbys father rescues a zebra therefore the game trying to say "oh look he a good man". It is nothing but lazy writing that makes no sense because as we can see even one of the most evil men that lived in our recorded history had a soft spot for dogs because as much as we like to dehumanise evil people we have to remember that they are still people. A thing that a lot of media often forgets nowadays. Now go on and call me a literal nazi because I disagree with your opinions on games.
