Home Office problems left ‘vulnerable’ asylum seekers without access to doctor or schools for 86 days, watchdog finds

The entire point of refugee and asylum seeker status is that you're escaping imminent danger so you're entitled to some unique protections. That should extend as far as "OK you're now in the first safest country you were able to get to, you can stay here".

Right now it seems to be "Well I went through 10 perfectly safe countries but I really want the use the generous health and welfare system of the UK that other people are paying for, please and thankyou".

And clearly people are abusing that because our very lenient system is turning people away because they're just making shit up and are essentially just economic migrants trying to do a massive shortcut on the standard way that foreigners gain rights of residence in the UK.
