A couple of years ago via the My Au Pair agency, we arranged with a girl from France come to stay with us for 6 months to help with the transition when my wife returned to full-time employment....i.e.. Help to make sure our young teenagers were getting to school on-time and had eaten breakfast and someone home to greet them and remind about homework, help with kids to prep for dinner etc... For our 3 kids and us, it was a fantastic experience and she is still considered a good friend and we keep in contact often. Our arrangement was. board + $100 a week in return for what I have already mentioned + some light housework in-line with the expectations on the kids in being responsible for their own domestic footprint+ a little extra when needed. This equated to around a 20hour per week commitment for her with the rest of the time her own, but in reality, she put in a fair bit more than 20 hours by her own choice and love of the kids, Cheers
