Homebuilder pleads with council to avoid tearing down half-finished bungalow built without a permit

Speaking of bylaws, I think our next-door neighbours got their deck permit boundaries backwards. Decks can be as close to 4m from the back property line and 0.6m from the side. They built theirs essentially right to their back fence (about that 0.6m) and left a ton of room on the sides. They mumbled something like "We don't want to deal with mowing grass back there" one time we had a chat.

As far as I know, the poor saps they're backing onto haven't complained. The back fence is chain-link and their hot tub is within arms length of it. Most weekends there's cans everywhere from them drinking and some of their friends can get pretty rowdy in the tub at 1am, though come Monday everything is cleaned up.

Maybe it's petty, but it's nice to know we have a silver bullet to use against them. All our other neighbours have been nice and polite, only noise is the typical "kid playing outside" noises (I'm actually glad to see kids still do that). Can't wait to get the 6' privacy fence up next spring.
