I took my wife to a nice little nature area that I fish at sometimes this weekend. I never actually explored the walking trails around it, just the main point to the waters.

On an hour walk around the trail weve seen about 20 homeless people doing bum stuff. One guy pissing with his pants at his ankles right off the trail, several camps with their garbage (ratty makeshift tents, tipped shopping carts and clothes all over the area, etc) them drunkenly shouting at each other, one sleeping in the middle of the walking path, and one that was trying way too hard to pet one of my dogs.

That's not ok. And the hippy humanists have been pushing hard to legalize hobo camps, and it actually passed. There was really nice areas that we would feel fine walking our dogs in the evenings. Clean parks, brightly lit areas, all that. We actively avoid those once once spots because of being constantly harrassed. It's to the point that my wife doesnt feel safe going near those places without me, and insist that I have my ccl with me when we do leave.

I've had a homeless guy with a kitchen knife break into my apartment building and nod off in the laundry room doorway that was right across the hall from my home. She's been followed by them for several blocks, even crossing streets just trying to walk to the market down the street to my apartment before we moved.

Hell, lately I've been fishing out used syringes out of the city park lake and around the area that kids have soccer games and people take their children to at the playground.

Its fucking ridiculous. We have city paid homeless shelters that provide health and living services, as well as jobs for them in the system. But tHaTs NoT gOoD eNoUgH for the transplants that move here because we have a nice university and a popular downtown area.

But if I tell anyone this in person here, I'm a piece of shit bigot with no compassion for other humans.
