Homeless situation

No need for pearl clutching about the homeless. Louisville's "homeless" and panhandling problem is well within the bounds of other cities' its size in America and certainly far below that of most Western European countries (not to even mention the catcalling problem there). Sounds like you're a country mouse not used to being accosted by the homeless and catcalled because you've only been in the city for a little while; please don't ever move to San Francisco or Paris if you are so disturbed by the usually very friendly homeless here.

Louisville's panhandling and homeless problem is actually much smaller than many other places because there's so little pedestrian traffic in most places it's simply not worth it to them. I know way too many women who live at Trinity Towers the Crescent Center and even glasswork lofts and the lofts on broadway to ever believe women are somehow incapable of dealing with it and won't go downtown, because no matter what city you go to you'll have this same problem. I recommend Middletown or Prospect if you personally can't do it.
