Homeschooling supporters in 2020 election

I'm an independent I guess. Most commonly I have voted third party.

I do not know yet who I will vote for in the next election. I am not a Sanders fan but I have not ruled him out either.

The article you post says he voted against a bill allowing:

parents and grandparents to contribute to tax advantaged Sec. 529 education savings accounts for students in grades K-12, including homeschoolers, in addition to students in college

It's unclear how the vote is an anti-homeschooling vote.

529 plans are a sort of savings plan for college:

Prepaid tuition plans let a saver or account holder purchase units or credits at participating colleges and universities (usually public and in-state) for future tuition and mandatory fees at current prices for the beneficiary. Prepaid tuition plans usually cannot be used to pay for future room and board at colleges and universities and do not allow you to prepay for tuition for elementary and secondary schools.

That sounds kind of shitty actually. What if your kid decides not to go to that college?

Prepaid plans are not guaranteed by the federal government. Some state governments guarantee the money paid into the prepaid tuition plans that they sponsor, but some do not.

Holy crap, you can put money in this plan, it's not in an account you control, and the money can just disappear? Screw that.

Yeah, I am with Bernie on this. This system sounds like a scam.

What I would like to see is educational expenses coming with a 100% tax credit.
