Be honest. How did you lose your weight?

I was maybe 15 kg overweight (from my ideal weight, but only 6 kg from normal BMI, I was very skinnyfat though), but since I was busy with university I didn't have enough willpower to do much about it. I did make a few attempts, I tried to eat less, didn't really do much, and then I tried to walk more, same result.

After university I decided to make a serious attempt at losing weight, this time I was going to make a plan. I started with diet, I looked into what I should eat for about a month before I actually started eating right. I lived with my parents, so I didn't control what was served for dinner, except the days where I cooked. So I designed my eating around that by basically leaving a 1000 calorie free-space for dinner. I had a goal of around 2000 calories per day, and I also wanted to maintain and possibly build some muscle, so I wanted at least 120 gr of protein per day. So I basically focused on designing a high protein, low calorie breakfast and lunch. I also wanted to have the preparation time be as low as possible.

For breakfast I ate 300 grams of Skyr, an Icelandic yoghurt rich in protein, and 3 eggs. For lunch I would eat a chicken breast of about 250 gr, and a small sandwich. Then along the day I would drink a protein shake. This would be about 1000 calories and 120 gr of protein.

I also began doing weight training, I did big compound exercises, where I started with just the barbell, and slowly added weight. I would exercise 3 days a week. I didn't really add any cardio, as I found it ineffective previously, but I did do some cycling to and from work.

I didn't weigh myself everyday, as it is ultimately a slow process, and I found it demotivating to see so little change. I just accepted that it was a process that takes time, I would weigh myself every now and again to track progress. It ultimately took about 5 months to get where I wanted to be. I think it went a little slower as I was getting a lot of muscle in those 5 months.
