Honest question from a 2016/2017 hodler

Well, I watched 401k managers reap rewards (fees) while my dreams were dashed by recessions. I watched corporation after corporation eliminate and even raid pensions (through legal bullshit, where top people walked away rich and the rest of us got nothing). I've watched our own government diminish the value of what little savings we spent our lives building via quantitative easing, and now, it's happening again, but at a much, much faster rate. Just wait for it. A tidal wave of inflation is coming. I watched taxes from the local to the federal level just take and take and take. I don't care what economist and politicians say about marginal tax rates and what their reports say about inflation. What I do know is the bottom line I see in our personal budget, and what the cost of our utilities, food, healthcare, and energy costs. All those things and so many more (like stagnated wages, executives taking more than their fair share of wealth we all create, etc) has ruined our budgets and dreams and any chance at retirement. But crypto. That's something new to me. It's a new decentralized economic platform, a fresh start, and I believe it puts more power and control into everyone's hands. Yes, I know there are a few big whales that got in early, and yes the big financial companies and billionaires can come in a manipulate things, but even now I feel like we're still early and there is a chance that maybe crypto will pay for our retirement. Because... I'm so tired of the USD rigged game. So. very. tired.
