Be honest. What is the dumbest thing you've ever done, that should not have worked, but actually did, in order to save a patient?

Does this count?

"Stole" a patient from the ED to save them from the ED. (Ok.. not excatly stole.. but its what I got) Called to pick up a patient (ALS transport), possible MI at local Level 3 (no cath lab) to transfer to Level 1 about 20 miles away. We got there, took the report, they had given the patient morphine and nitro BP (86 / 42) and they were setting up nitro on the IV pump for transport. They didnt seem to want to believe our polite attempts to explain that it wasn't necessary, because "IF" the patient needed more, we could administer some. As they were having trouble trying to get the pump set up and fumbling with the packaging... and the patient was on our cot at that point.. rather than argue with the RN and PA or wait around longer for shenanigans.. we took the patient and left.. while getting the evil eye from staff "but we opened the package..."
