Hope for D2: Consistent leveling

I mean hell it takes like 50 hours or something to reach level 100 in ESO (maybe closer to 100 i don't remember)

I don't know how long it currently takes, but back when I played a year ago, it could be done in something silly like 8 hours, faster if you have experience boosting items. It's just really boring.

and then there's like 600 champion points after that...

I believe the Champion Point system actually ends at 3,600, but you can only use, from what I understand, 630 once Morrowind hits in a couple weeks. However, this is a pretty bad system and one Destiny players would dislike.

As you level, the grind increases, where as the returns decrease. At <300 CP I was out DPSing (according to DPS tests anyway) people with 501 CP because I was better at doing my rotation and had better gear, but anyone I was randomly matched with looked down on me (I'm sure many people who complain about LFG can understand). I get why, but much to your point, it takes a massive amount of time to hit 630 and the elitism/rewards simply aren't there. On paper a top tier person might do something small like 10 percent more potential damage, but it's how you can do your rotation and gear that really matters. But I digress.

But I get that Bungie wants Destiny to be more accessible to a broader audience than a typical MMO so 20's fine

Anyway, it isn't the number that matters, as much as the time. Disgaea goes up to 9,999, which you can reincarnate as much as you want to further increase your stats (this becomes pointless after around 10 times), but you can also go from level 1 to 9,999 in minutes if you know what you're doing.

Speaking for myself, I think the rate should probably be the same, so if you need 100,000 xp to hit 20, you need the same amount to hit a different number, but a higher number. When I played through Destiny the first time, it didn't feel like I was really progressing on my journey from level 1 to 20. If this went to, say, 50, it would seem like you're progressing more and it would likely have better returns because people feel like they're doing something. Especially since 50 is a much more common end point than 20.
