Horror movies without torture or body horror?

Midsommar gets close. There's an early scene of gore in an otherwise calm ritual, so it's gory but not scary. Otherwise most of the violence is offscreen and implied.

Honestly, though, I didn't really enjoy it - but probably because it was very hyped and I went in spoiled. I think if you go in unspoiled it's a very tense, atmospheric movie, but knowing what happens ruins that tension.

I also expected much more violence, so I spent the whole movie squirming - but the violence never really came, and I think that also ruined the movie for me.

So, yeah, go in without reading anything about it and it'll probably be close to what you're looking for.
