Hostel horror stories?

Got into La Paz very early in the morning and went to a hostel my friend heard about from a girl he was seeing. Receptionist was a really lovely girl who explained that we'd have to wait until after midday to check in but booked us a couple of beds for that night. We went out and started drinking heavily. I don't remember much from the day but we'd drunk a lot and taken a hell of a lotta coke and some how it was around four in the morning the next day when we remembered we were meant to check in and stuff. Went back to the hostel where the receptionist had been replaced by a crazy looking guy who immediately pulled a shotgun on us as we stumbled in. He started shouting some shit in Spanish but luckily my friend could speak it. My friend started shouting back at him and in the end walked behind the desk, pushed the shotgun barrel out of his face and got his passport out of my bag. He showed it to the guy who instantly calmed down and put the gun back behind the desk.

Turned out the guy had been told about us, but for some reason was expecting two girls, not guys. He'd been taking coke all night himself and was on edge. My friend had tried to explain that we had booked two beds but and that our bags were behind the desk but, like with many conversations between two people on coke, it had escalated very quickly into a full on shouting match, the guy clearly unhappy that two blokes had just wondered in off the street looking like shit at four in the morning, and my friend not wanting to give up his bed or our bags. Anyway, he apologised and we all stayed up drinking and taking his coke for the rest of the night then left first thing in the morning. We didn't even step foot in the room.

Not a bad experience in the end, but terrifying at the time.
