Are you genuinely asking me or are you trying to make me fall into some kind of trap? I fully recognize that the Mormon church is deceitful and disturbing in their teachings, I just think it’s really aggressive and hateful to declare that it is a cult, because of the negative connotations associated with that word. The word is accurate on all accounts, which I tried to show, but I also wanted to express the idea that even though it is most definitively correct, I’ve seen it used as an insult and a barb and an attack on the church more than anything else.

It is a basic fact at this point that the Mormon church is a cult. I am just trying to express that this subreddit seems to be using this word more negatively than neutrally, which (as I have expressed) makes me really uncomfortable.
