How to add RGB lighting to Series X(no voided warranty)

I wouldn't connect these to your xbox usb ports, I'd get a cheap wall powered usb hub.

" While these clever lights work as advertised, they could very likely permanently destroy your USB ports, depending on the design of your particular ports.

A normal "real" USB jack is 2.15mm. These PCB-based LED lights are 2.5mm thick, so they're 0.35mm thicker than a "real" USB jack. That means these lights will apply more force onto the pins inside the jack body, possibly either catching the edge of the pins and bending them downwards, or bending the spring out of the pins causing them to not make contact to normal "real" USB plugs in the future.

The other problem is that the leading edge of the light that gets inserted into the USB port isn't shallow enough to push the pins inside the USB jack out of the way as the light slides into the jack. Instead, the pins can catch on the steep edge of the fiberglass, and bend downward into the jack as you push the light into the USB socket. Once the pins inside the jack body are bent, they cannot be straightened without breaking due to the type of metal used in the pins - the metal fatigues and just breaks off, leaving you with an unusable USB jack. You may only break 1 pin, or maybe all 4 - but you need a 4 pins to use the jack for data transmission. If you only bend D+ or D-, you can still use that port to charge devices, but only at lower currents (usually 250mA or 500mA, depending on your hardware).

For those of you still interested in giving these a try, I recommend you file shallower edges onto both sides of the light and then coat these edges with a thin coating of superglue to make the edge smoother for the metal pins to glide across without catching. I have attached pictures showing these modifications in detail.

So, you can either cause damage to your USB ports because the lights are too thick, or because the leading edge is too steep. In either case, it can cause irreparable damage to your USB ports, so buyer beware! If you don't have the soldering skills necessary to replace broken USB ports, I recommend you find a USB light with a "real" USB jack, instead of one made from Fiberglass FR4 PCB material which is too thick for this application.
