We also have a lot of coal deposits that's really rich. You dont have to remove as much impurities as you would coal from other parts of america, or so I'm told.

The only problem is that natural gas and solar is cheaper and I think the future so the coal power plant is shutting down this month and the mines I think will follow soon after or before. Not sure. I have family who work at the mine and the plant. Its unfortunate but it was coming. Luckily they have savings and a plan for when the planr shuts down.

I've been to other parts of the rez and I've seen oil extraction rigs. The Navajo reservation is large and theres a lot of potential but those in power are of course money grubbers.

I'm not optimistic enough to try and make change, but I spent most of my life volunteering at church and rebuilding elderly homes and providing food when we could.
