how do i ask for help as cash person?

So i will share my tips from my own experience but be prepared, this is a lot of information.

Try to be independent but don't be afraid to ask for help. Don't be a cashier who calls for EVERYTHING, that's how you seem weak and disrupt people in the back and that can be annoying. However if you are on cash and can't get a break then call for chips/baskets/trays or forks/drink station items. I know we are supposed to have high standards at Chipotle but rarely do you need to call for dining room checks. What I mean by a break is as soon as you see that salsa is still helping a customer and you have no customers waiting to be rung up go get what you need. Also what I do is when a customer tells me they are with the next burrito/bowl just politely say "Alright I'll be right back" and go get whatever I need. Salsa doesn't understand that if you/re not on the POS then that means you are probably busy doing something, and they will call "Cash" usually before they are even done rolling the customers burrito. It may seem rude but Cash has a lot of responsibility so I'm sure the customer won't mind waiting an extra 5-10 seconds after that cash call as long as you look like you're hurrying. Your fridgerator shouldn't run out during your shift. At least ours doesn't. That is why the M in ELMA stands for Mise en place. PM dining room closer is supposed to stock the AM fridgerator and it should be stocked by the AM cashier at the end of their shift in order to Mise en place for PM. When doing dining room, the order should go 1. Drink station 2. Tables 3. Trash 4. Floor. HOWEVER you have to have baskets and trays and chips, so in reality this should be your priority for whenever you have those "breaks" i mentioned earlier. 1. Have a few baskets 2. Have a few chips (chips you can always have the customers wait a few minutes until you get a break in order to go bag some, and if you can't get a break and customers keep asking, call for chips so you dont have more than 4 people waiting for chips, because at that point you're going to need some and when you go do it yourself it'll take too long) 3. Have a few trays (I usually only give trays to people with bowls that have 3 or more items because with burritos you can stack everything in the basket) then 4-7: Drink station, table wipes, trash, then floor.

Just learn how to see what you have and what you need and make your priorities then go get things done. You have to move fast on cash becaue rarely will you get those breaks so you really have to take advantage of every opportunity you have to accomplish things.
