How do I avoid the "mortgage life"?

Your concern seems to boil down to this:

I don't want to have to go to work cause if I don't my house will get taken away...

You don't want to feel like you MUST go to work. You don't want to feel trapped. But...aren't you in the same boat right now? What happens if you don't go to work? Where would you live if you quit your job today and couldn't pay rent?

It seems to me that you are looking for a path to success. So I'll tell you the secret:

EDUCATION.

People with a degree get the opportunities. They get the cool jobs. They get the nice house and the nice cars. If you don't have your life figured out by the time you are 25, then go back to school.

Now...don't get me wrong. It's entirely possible to be successful without an education. And, it's entirely possible to fall flat on your face after getting your degree. But, statistically speaking, a degree will improve your chances of getting a job that you enjoy doing and one that pays the bills.

See, at the moment, you've only worked jobs that crushed your soul. Every moment at work is a moment that's stolen from you. But...what if you could do something that you enjoyed? Something that challenged you? Don't misunderstand, there would still be a fair amount of bullshit to put up with. But, what if 50% of your day at work was truly enjoyable? What if 75% was truly enjoyable? What if you wanted to buy that house and settle down because you really enjoyed getting up each day, going to work and making a difference to the people in your life?

So, anyway...spend a couple of years thinking it over. Look at the numbers. Examine the average income of people without a degree. Look at the average happiness of someone with a degree. Look in the mirror and ask yourself what you really want out of life. The answer might just be "an education".
