How do you balance trying new foods and ensuring a small baby is getting enough?

Mine was also in the 5th percentile for a while, but like you our pediatrician was not worried because she's always followed her growth curve. She started eating solids at 10 months. Before that, she had no interest. No interest in purees (though sometimes she'd eat some, but never enough to be considered a meal, and never three times per day) and she had no interest in feeding herself either, or eating food we put in her tray (BLW). She started eating on her own after she started attending daycare, I guess she saw the other kids eating and decided she wanted to do it too (even though I constantly had my meals in front of her, she had never cared before). From 10 months - now (14 months) I've seen a huge shift in her interest for food, but she still eats a lot less than some of my friend's babies. I just know that she eats enough for her, basically, and I'm happy that she's healthy and eating at all.

PS. She's also not a fan of fruit but if I made her popsicles with crushed fruits or apple sauce she'd eat those. If your daughter likes eggs you can do a variety of things with omelettes. And have you tried pasta? Like rotini with meat sauce? It's a favorite over here.
