How do you become a sports journalist if your undergrad and grad degrees and career path have nothing to do with sports journalism, and you have no connections to the sports world?

I want to be a sports journalist. I'm 28 years old, almost 29. I have a bachelors and 2 masters degrees. They have nothing to do with sports or journalism of any kind. I have a sort of career path in the last couple years, and that has to do with my degrees, which have nothing to do with sports or journalism. I don't even really like what I studied or my career path or the field at all, all I really ever wanted to do was cover sports in some way, analysis, reporting, being the TV guy on sportscenter, etc. I love everything about sports and watching an analyzing, especially hockey and I'd love to cover that first and foremost, but I'd be happy even covering general north american major sports as a TV caster on a channel or something. I want to be that guy on tv who's behind the desk on sportscenter presenting the night's action, or one of the guys on a hockey expert panel on the hockey show on the sports channel who analyzes the game and individual players. How do I be THAT? That's what I want to be the most.

I've always loved sports, I watch hockey fanatically and play close attention to the other n. american sports as well, and have great analytical skills when I'm watching sports esp hockey. But I never played any sports as a kid. My parents never put me in any sports as a kid because they didn't think it was important. They never even suggested to me that covering sports as a journalist or an analyst, or just being a member of the sports-related media, was even an option. So I went into academics and a highly academic field and I don't like it, I never really did. And I have no connections to the sports world at all. But I want to become a hockey journalist, a sportscaster on shows like sportscenter, or anything related to that. How do I do it when I have a career path that has nothing to do with that, I've already gone through college and grad school for something completely different, and I have no connections to the sports world at all? But I love it and it would be the only thing I would be truly happy doing. What do I do?
