In Canada, Bernie Sanders would be a centrist...

Most of what Bernie envisions for the US is already a reality in Canada, at least in some parts of Canada.

The case of Quebec, the only french speaking province

Quebec has a population of 8.5 million and is the second largest economy in Canada after the province of Ontario.

Yet Quebec has :

• Close to free tuition, average of $1916 CAD per semester (85% of college/university tuition is subsidized)
• Public Community Colleges are free and private Colleges tuition are capped at $500 or $1500 CAD ($1100 USD) per semester.
• Prescription drug insurance where you pay 37% of the cost of drugs, capped at $1,117 per year.
• Universal, single payer healthcare where all services provided in a hospital are free and only some performed in private clinics are billable because they are also available in hospitals. You pay to get faster service, although, most of the time it is not necessary.
• Universal daycare / childcare at a cost of $8,23 per day per child.

The rest of Canadian provinces

Most Canadian provinces have similar programs to Quebec with the sole two exceptions of universal pharmacare and childcare.

University and College tuition are also higher in other provinces.

In short, the Canadian example shows that the policies Bernie Sanders proposes for the US are not only realistic but also affordable.

If a province like Quebec with a GDP per capita of US $37,888 PPP can afford this, then a country like the US with a GDP per capita of $59,532 PPP can also easily afford this.
