How common is colonialism in your conworlds?

Colonialism occurs often within my setting.

5 out of 7 of my setting's continents have well-developed countries and governments, so colonialism attempts are rare on these continents. The two remaining continents include:

Crossan: A continent often referred to in the West as 'Crossan' or 'Croissan' [Leone: croissente crescent] is found in my setting's eastern hemisphere. Colonies established by Leone-speaking countries began to arise in my setting's late 14th and early 15th centuries, and Toleno-speaking and Merīnus-speaking countries began to follow suit.

In the Merīnus language, the continent is known as Éyepcōcius [Merīnus: éyepcō to rise + -cius suffix] in reference to its Leone name. In the Toleno language, the continent is known as Cércocecho [Toleno: cocecho crop + cér from cérti belt] due to its agricultural belts. Some referred to the continent as 'Cércocho' due in part to cartography misprints.

Sengosmos: A dwarf continent yet undiscovered by the previous six continents of my setting, 'Sengosmos' is a continent that will be discovered (or rediscovered) in my setting's succeeding centuries. The continent earns its name from the Merīnus language [Merīnus: seng sink + osmos world/orb], and it was named after a mythological 'twin continent' that sunk beneath the waters of the world.

Sengosmos is inhabited by primitive cultures, although these cultures have regressed back into hunter-gather societies. Evidence within my setting suggests that Sengosmos has only been discovered by initial human settlers. These settlers would have crossed over to the dwarf continent during my setting's last Ice Period, which receded approximately 40,000 years ago.

When 'Sengosmos' is discovered by the cultures of the Known World of my setting, it will be another sought location for colonialism.

Outside of these two continents, most of the remaining colonialism found in my setting is restricted to discovered islands and archipelagos. In my setting's contemporary 15th century, an Age of Sail is developing. As a result, new islands are discovered often.
