How conservative Facebook groups are changing what books children read in school

Out of context this comment is funny and paints these people as stupid, but it’s clear she’s talking about how it takes work to read these books for review purposes, compared to graphic novels, to determine whether or not they are appropriate for children, not that reading takes work.

I guess I don’t understand how one can take a comment out of context to characterize people a certain way, especially giving odd a “better than” or judgmental vibe.

It’s also kind of dangerous because this comment paints these people in a stupid light and whether or not they are, they’re legitimately organizing to ban books and having great success- we can no longer underestimate people, no matter how illogical or incomprehensible they or their beliefs seem- they’re working hard to shape the world we live into their liking.
