How Conversion Therapy Flourishes Despite Bans

You're right about the gender identity thing. The first draft of the bill only applied to sexual orientation; gender identity was added later.

The Catholic Church is opposed to conversion therapy, but what the article is describing isn't conversion therapy. There's no attempt to change anyone's sexual orientation, nor is there a claim that such a thing is possible. Rather, the article is describing for support groups for adults who genuinely believe, for religious reasons, that homosexual acts are morally wrong. I'm a Catholic who doesn't believe that homosexual acts are morally wrong, but I respect the rights of Catholics (and adherents of other religions) to live their lives as they see fit.
