How do I convince my parents that a degree is not necessary to become an working artist ?

And like I said, even if it isnt super expensive, it's still gonna be atleast 1200 per semester for extremely low level teaching. What is the point when you have professionals teaching for free or dirt freaking cheap? I've considered my nearby community college, I sat in on a free of my friends classes and I was suprised out how basic and subpar the knowledge is. Drawabox.com has way more knowledge to give than any of the classes in a cheap school.

The problem is if you want to teach at school, you need a master's degree in art education, your entire education is learning to teach. Teachers aren't incentivized to actually practice what they are doing relevant to a professional industry. The only thing that can be remotely valuable at a college is finding friends, a supportive mentor figure(which you can easily find online with more experience too) and life drawing nude models you can draw. Which isnt even necessary in the least to get skill to attain a job.
