How to deal with sketchy mechanic?

You sound like a guy a lot of mechanics dislike honestly. Take it to them, they tell you what it needs and why, and then you leave and say you have your own mechanic for that. Then rip the shop you took it to the first time because you think you got ripped off. Just cause it's puking doesn't mean it's a caliper. And why did you need an idler arm if it had barely any play in it? And then finally, why don't you just take it to your buddy so he can pass your inspection? You don't sound like you know a lot about cars, but yet saying "they said it needed five parts but it only obviously needed one" upsets me because you probably do need all 5 of them. And also an idler arm is not hard to do at all. Especially on an old chevy
