How do I defend against people saying Trump said he wants to pound protestors heads and will pay legal fees to supporters who beat up protestors?

a) like I said, obviously not a comparable situation, but I was under the impression (if I'm wrong, I'm wrong) that people were mocking her immediately from the outset, before it became clear whether her allegations were true or not.

in any case, though, like I said, it's a stretch – i just think it was demonstrative of the fact that /r/the_donald posters are not above making light of the word "assault" when it's used to describe something they think is silly.

i personally think it's silly to describe getting hit with a tomato as "assault", i find it deeply suspicious that anybody would not think it's silly (i don't think somebody without an obvious outward political agenda would describe a neutral situation where this occurred – like a comedian doing stand-up being hit with a tomato – as "assault").

b (was C) ) The OP didn't mention that thread, so I don't think that's why he made it? I could be wrong! But if you don't think that violent protesting hasn't escalated to rioting and political terrorism (the use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims, in this case stifling and opposing those simply for holding different political beliefs), please look at this thread.

Right, like I said, this is just pedantry and affected naïevete, I can tell you're a reasonable person so I'm sure that you know the following already:

  • the word "terrorism" has an existing and widely used cultural connotation – every time anybody uses it earnestly, they're describing a situation where a person or group of people tried to commit murder for a political or religious cause.

  • the use of the word "terrorism" on /r/the_donald is a pretty obvious ploy to attach the emotional resonance of past, well-known instances of terrorism to current event which are INARGUABLY much more innocuous (anybody who would try to seriously argue that people who get in fistfights or mob assaults at political rallies should be categorized wholesale with Al-Qaeda or ISIS is being an asshole, and anybody who pretends to not know that is what they are doing when they use the word "terrorism" is being an asshole).

I also have to question, if this kind of intellectually-dishonest political bullshit is the stuff that is being taken seriously on /r/The_Donald, then what is even the point of the campaign? I have been under the impression that one of the core values that Trump supporters have maintained is a sense of honesty and a refusal to engage in "traditional" politics and sleazy muckraking, but this dishonesty and manipulation looks no different to me than I personally saw in any of the previous 9 presidential elections.
