How did you ALMOST die?

When I was 7 or 8 years old I was in Dubai for a vacation and my family and I were at the rooftop pool. It was around sunset time, so the light was just starting to fade. My mom decided to take a quick nap and gave my dad and brother strict instructions to keep a close eye on me. They didn’t. The pool had a shallow end and a deep end and the floor sloped downward around the halfway area. I didn’t know how to swim at the time and for some reason I decided to venture into the deeper side of the pool. Lost control and slipped into the deep half, panicked and started gulping water. Threw my arms around but was already too deep in for anything but my finger tips to show. Luckily a dude in his mid 50’s spotted me and pulled me out. Parents profusely thanked him, mom was hella pissed. The guy was a Turkish captain for a cruise ship, he was in his mid 50’s, pretty cool fella even tried teaching me how to swim the next few days.
