How did Apple’s AirPods go from mockery to millennial status symbol?

Actually I was poor for a time growing up, single parent, government housing, $600 Volvo, shitty neighbourhood, the whole bit.

You can still find an extra $160 over a few weeks if that’s what you consider a priority. Hell as a kid you can find that in spare change within a few months.

I just didn’t buy Apple stuff back then because it’s a terrible value proposition. Even if they’d existed back then, I could just use my $20 skull candy headphones and have something else in my life far more drastically improved with the remaining $140.

If you can’t come up with $160, then your life is about to come to a screeching halt the next time your car breaks down, you get a flat tire, your car gets towed, you have a vet bill, you get a cavity and need a dentist, or you even need the day off work to deal with something else.

I’m just saying, if it’s not a casual spend for you, you’re teetering on the brink of ruin, and have much bigger problems.
