How/why did the Dancing Plagues occur? Why aren't there any dancing plagues (or similar) today?

Perhaps you missed the part where I explained that she can feel it coming on and thus is able to support herself by sitting or laying down. Perhaps you missed the part where I said, SO FAR it hasn't been dangerous. I didn't say fainting is totally safe or not a cause for concern. I didn't say I don't worry about it. We are very lucky that it hasn't caused injury to her so far. It was the very first thing I thought of when she wanted to get her driver's permit. You are right, it can be dangerous. I'm very thankful that SO FAR she hasn't had so much as a bruise from any of the many times she's fainted. This has been happening for about ten years now, and I've done every conceivable thing to try to minimize the danger in any possible situation this might occur. Thanks for your concern. I certainly did not mean to sound flippant or unconcerned.
