How did you first get into Yu-Gi-Oh?

I grew up in Japan, Yugioh came out around when I was 8ish. My deck was atrocious and the best card I had was a beat up Black Luster Soldier. When I moved to the states, I lost all my cards, including some cards that my friend gave me as a parting gift. RIP Black Dark Magician.

Fast forward couple of years and I see that Yugioh made its way to the states, so I bought a starter deck Kaiba. Bought a couple of packs for a pretty terrible backyard deck. My friends got bored of Yugioh so I stopped playing after middle school.

Fast forward couple years again, my brother who is 8 yrs younger than me randomly started getting into Yugioh, so we bought a couple of structure decks. The spellcaster one with spellcounters with Breaker the Magical Warrior was one of them. And Dark Worlds. But then our spellcaster deck was stolen in a house party by some kid, probably. It mysteriously disappeared. We lost interest again after a while.

Fast forward another couple of years, it is now ~2016 and I'm now working fulltime as an engineer. My coworker friend all of a sudden decided to get into Yugioh again so he brought his cyber dragons deck and I brought my dark worlds deck to a locals and we dueled once. That was also my first time at locals but we mostly kept to ourselves. One kid came and joined our table, but he was a bit too nosy for my friend's liking. Locals was interesting. This was also my first time in my life I bought singles on TCGplayer, and made a Dark Magician deck and fulfilled my childhood dream. My coworker friend moved, and I stopped playing again.

One year later, my brother got a hankering for yugioh again so I bought more cards to incorporate some Dark Magician support cards, and built a Ritual Beasts deck because Lara is best girl. My RB deck takes a big fat dump on my brother's blue eyes deck which he also strengthened by buying singles. Coming from a person who always lived on terrible backyard decks and mostly storebought single structure decks, RB feels like the most broken thing ever and shudder to think of what actual meta decks are like, lol.

So here we are at 2017, today is my birthday. My brother wants to try building a Shiranui deck and I want to buy myself a Ghostricks as a gift to myself. But I hear Ghostricks is frustrating to play against and my brother might get too salty to play me anymore when he's already struggling against my RB deck, haha.
