How did you guys make the push off cigs?

I'll tell you how it worked for me: Other users mileage may vary.

I was a 2 pack a day smoker for 30 years, and I was far down that rabbit hole and had long since given up on believing I could ever quit (Tried dozens of times). Pretty much assumed I was going to the grave with this, but decided to try one last time - and using something I had never tried: E-Cigs

Got IStick Pico, and after a number of experiments on what build I needed to stop coughing my lungs out, I landed on 3mg liquid and a sub ohm atomizer.

So, when I got everything dialed in on my E-Cig, I picked a time when I was going to be on break from work for a couple weeks, and started the process.

First I dumped all cigarettes, emptied ashtrays, and removed all temptation that I could. Then just started the process of switching over. Switching to an E-Cig for me was as harsh as quitting smoking, but the psychological value of having a smoking type device really helped. I also noticed that it wasn't just the nicotine in cigarettes I was addicted to - I was addicted to several other of the chemicals that were in cigarettes because no amount of nicotine in my E-Cig was alleviating all my symptoms.

As a very high stress person, I believe that this is what I was most addicted to: "naturally occurring MAOIs in cigarettes are an extremely high factor in cigarette addiction - they reinforce the effect of nicotine, a little like taking antidepressants and alcohol. They are the chemicals that create the relaxed and calm sensation that smokers get when they light up"

So, for about two weeks, I suffered, but remained strong and would allow for no cheating as I knew it would lead back to full time cigarettes. I had to win this battle for me. No one else could get me to quit.

I am now 4 months into having quit cigarettes, and have not slipped up even once. Yes I get hard cravings from time to time, but I fight them and vape them away when they occur. They are definitely getting less and less frequent, and I am so happy to be free of the death sticks. I no longer need to take breathing pills or use asthma inhalers 3-4 times a day to breath well. My wife says I no longer snore and heavy breath all night.

It's worth the fight. And seriously, if I can do it, anyone can do it lol.
