How did you meet/court your spouse? [Christians Only]

I met my wife in my fraternity house in the spring of our sophomore year. She was the designated driver for some mutual friends that night. I came in after studying and started chatting with our mutual friends. They wanted some food and my wife didn't want to drive anymore, so she asked me to drive. She also apparently wanted to talk to me. I had apparently made an impression on her at a party a few months prior (that story is below the line).

I then drove them around and then back to the frat house. My wife and I then talked for hours. We laid all of our past sins and sin patterns on the table and noted God as our priority. We then kissed for two hours (seriously nothing more, and it was my first time kissing anyone I wasn't dating). Despite wanting to keep God at the center, over the next two years we slowly pushed into sexual sin (This verse comes to mind /u/versebot [1 Cor. 7:9]).

I knew I wanted to marry her within 6 months, but she says she knew week one. We delayed marriage for 3 years after I knew because we wanted to ensure our relationship would endure outside of the bubble created by university. We married 2.5 years. Our marriage has through a mutual pursuit of God, pushed us closer. I am most happy these days when I make her smile.

Things we did right

    1. Made a sincere effort to place God first
    1. Compromised where we could on how to accomplish our individual goals
    1. When arguing, we stay calm and try to interpret the other person's words in a way that is least offensive. We focus on empathy as well.
    1. We humble ourselves to each other and ask how we can make each other's lives better.

A fraternity brother I was friends with was saying things like Christians are only Christians because of their parents. No one chooses it out of atheism or agnosticism. I over heard him as I was walking buy and said well I was raised in a Christian house, rejected the religion and then chose it again later. I surveyed Islam, Bhuddism, deism etc. and Christianity won out, which disproves your unqualified statement.
