I had one picked out (got it from a video character I really resonated with) for almost a whole year-- so long that I even had my doctors start referring me by it-- and I thought it was, like, the name or whatever. This is, until my family started making offhand comments about it that rubbed me the wrong way and sort of ruined the name for me.

Now out of a name, I was debating which names from my list I should go with and I wasn't completely sold on any of them. Did a bit of thinking while I was playing yet another video game and when I went to move one of my units I went "oh, I like this character. He has a cool name. Yeah, whatever, I'll go with that." I actually have gotten more shit about my new name from my family but I also feel a lot more comfortable with it so I don't really care anymore.
