How did you come to support Liverpool?

My journey to becoming a Liverpool fan is long amd convoluted...

I played footy as a kid but never followed any leagues, only watched Germany in the international tournaments. My family supported Bayern because we were loosely related to one of their star players at the time, so I started to support them very loosely (Seeing that they won a trophy and being happy about it, basically).

Years go by and by 2012/13 I make some friends who talk about footy a lot, so I start to get more into it too, start actually watching Bayern games. Was fun to see them dominate time and time again, but after a few seasons it became stale, there was no excitement watching any games because the expected outcome was always a win.

So I think of my family members in Germany who support Dortmund. Fair play, they've got Hummels from the national team so I was already interested. And then...

Knock, knock. Here comes the Klopp.

I fell in love with BVB, everything about the club was great. The passion, the history, the philosophy, the playstyle. They even won the Champions League in the year I was born; it was meant to be. To make matters even better, I started to watch them in the 2014/15 season when they were flirting relegation... every game was important and had me on edge. They finish 7th in the league but it was better than any season I watched of Bayern. Klopp steps down from the club and it was sad because I really enjoyed him as a manager.

In the next season, my friends tell me to start following the Premier League because the Bundesliga is a one-horse race every year. I spend a lot of time looking into different clubs and the few that stood out to me were Liverpool, West Ham and Bournemouth. I was fairly undecided but the culture of Liverpool and Dortmund was so similar that it felt like a simple switch (I already knew the words to YNWA). On the other hand, West Ham and Bournemouth were both interesting teams to me as they were both on the rise. I nearly committed myself to West Ham but the dank memes from Liverpool delayed my decision (Thanks u/HUGE_HOG).

Then Klopp is appointed as the Liverpool manager and my fate was sealed: I'm a Red.

The same feelings I had while watching Dortmund for the first time were coming back but even stronger and I fell in love with LFC.

I know that two and a half years supporting the club is nothing compared to most other supporters, but damn do I love this club with all my heart (Well most of it, I still hold Dortmund very dear).
