How does one become more handy and useful as a man around the house?

Not a guy but a long term single mom with things to fix. Now so good with tools guys think im a dude inside :/

My advice is to go to home depot or lowes whatever and just walk around. Familiarize yourself with the layout and the products they sell. Like do you know where they sell sand paper, grout, a tape measure or chain by the foot???

There have been so many times i have an issue and go ... Oh! I know what tool that is and right where it is!

That makes life sooo much easier than its broke... Maybe it can be fixed somehow???

Also learn names of tools and what things they go with.

That way when you ask for help you can say I need the screw thingy that you use the allen wrench on and not just say thingy... Which is why knowing your way around the hardware store gets you in the general vicinity of what you need. Also the guys at the stores know how to use stuff so dont be afraid to ask.

I just did a $30,000 remodel job on my house this summer. I feel like a bad ass! Half way to building my own princess castle for myself :)
