How does power level across magic classes work?

Warlock - basically crueler the stronger(syphoning souls from innocents, giving your own life force in exchange for power, feats) for example Gul'Dan isnt shit compared to ordinary orc, but if he decides to capture 1000 souls and drain all of their life force and use it to fuel something huge, he could destroy the planet.

Shaman - if we talk pure "good" shamans, then its about asking for a favor of elementals in exchange for other favors, you dont even have to speak out loud if you are experienced shaman like Thrall was (in his fight against Garrosh, using elemental forces without chanting anything, just asking for powers internally). Then there are dark shaman who enslave elementals and basically force them to imbue the dark Shaman with power, but if you ever lost a grip on the elementals, they will never respond to you in ordinary way ever again.
