How does a typical class go for you?

When I go visit Alan orr I stay at his gym all day if I can lol and just workout on the dummy and do bag work. Do a private lesson or two with him which will always include sparring but starts with what he thinks i need to learn and drill ... Usually go down for a few days - a week if I can. Like 2.5 hour drive from my place.

Last time I went there was a european circuit mma fighter visiting for a week and I got a private with him ( non wing chun) I asked to do some sparring... Eye opening experience. Showed me how much training I need.. then Alan can spar with him equally. I gave him a ride up to the airport and he mentioned he reckoned Alan would kick his ass lol Not going to mention his name publicly.

Thats during the day then at night will go to all the classes he does which includes more sparring and fight drills. Now that I think about it.. half of the training when I go to Alans is sparring. Body Structure is emphasised more then hand techniques. Lots of body structure training, some form work. lots of sparring drills and live sparring. Chi sao aswell. Absoultely love training there and am going to move down there as soon as possible for full time training.

When im just training where I live. I train with a chu shong tin guy and just do siu nim tao, chi sao and stucture tests very casual and just me and him at the moment. I really enjoy both Chu shong tin and Chu sau lei.

Before that I did this Ipching/lo man kam/ron heimberger whatever lineage. Was very commercial. Had gradings every 3 months. The class was a bit structured. I didnt put on gloves to spar the whole like 9 years I was there. We did the usual

. Warm up . Do the form or some lame as pad exercise chainpunching . Do scenarios and " reaction drills" . Some kicks Then when you get to chum kiu they added . Chi sao and chi gerk . some footwork drills . multiple opponent drills . just more reaction drills and scenarios . Sifu talking about himself and his achievements every lesson

Left there with a very average skill and very average fight skill. I could make it work a bit but something felt " missing". Thats my life story
