How does your anxiety affect you socially?

For the majority of my high school years, I had a terrible stutter that prevented me from forming and maintaining friendships; it was so debilitating and embarrassing that I avoided social interactions as much as possible. I genuinely thought I had a speech disorder or that something was wrong with my brain, but it was just severe social anxiety.

Maybe your anxiety could be causing your inability to speak? If it is affecting your quality of life, then it may be a good idea to speak with your doctor to come up with a treatment plan (therapy and/or anxiety meds, etc). I reached out to my doctor when I was struggling and a combo of meds (zoloft) and speech therapy saved my life. Things will get better OP!
