We are supposed to log hours, but I hate this; spending 15 extra minutes at the end of an already long week is just miserable.

They also monitor the pager sign in / sign out times for the ward and ICU teams. Every once in a while I've had to send an intern home and signout to the covering team while I was still working, but this is just to be careful, I don't think I've ever actually broken duty hours.

Once as an intern, my senior was coming close to breaking duty hours and the programs response was to give him a half day off, but the week after he had to sit down for a meeting with the program director to discuss how he could be more efficient. So I'd rather fudge the numbers a tiny bit rather than deal with that.
