How early in the relationship can I bust out the Lord of the Rings extended edition?

For real: just let it happen naturally.

I hit this point in my relationship just a few weeks ago.

I've been in a relationship for nearly two years, and shortly before christmas we were trying to figure out what to watch. My partner is not really from american culture, so she is only tangentially aware that LotR exists, and it was only recently in her life that she was able to watch/enjoy the sci-fi/fantasy genre, as she used to think it was "childish".

This lady is STUBBORN - this is usually frustrating - but this time it really helped out.

She was the one that said "hey, what was that series you were telling me about? Let's watch that!"

"oh, right, Lord of the Rings, I am not sure we have time for that right now..."

"I don't care, let's just start it"

"ok, but the movies are long, like really long, the first one is almost..."

"I don't care, let's just watch!"

win

... but this was weeks ago, and we haven't gotten around to watching RoK yet...
