How essential, if at all, is it to date during your teenage years?

It depends, what are you looking for and what are you hoping to gain?

Everyone has different experiences. Some good, some bad. If you feel like your missing out, my question would be: what do you think you’re missing out on? If it’s sex, don’t rush it. It’s not worth just hooking up with someone. I made that mistake in my youth and believe me I still cringe when I think of it.

If it’s a longing to relate, well … I think that’s a symptom of the universe. Everyone wants someone to relate to but usually don’t take the time to relate with themselves.

There’s a saying: youth is wasted on the youth. It’s not a generational slag. Hindsight is 20/20.

If I could recommend anything: if you can find some old audio of Wayne Dyer when he was doing his seminars they are really good for introspection and self discovery. Old audio of Terence McKenna, he’s very much into psychedelics ( which you can ignore if you want) but he has brilliant orations on society, self identity and questioning the true nature of reality. These are things you can find on YouTube and torrent sites.

Alan Watts and Ken Wilber are good places to look for philosophical introspection and human evolution.

Relationships and dating will happen when they happen. In the meantime fill yourself with knowledge and get to know yourself.

All the best in your journeys.
