How exactly am I supposed to live in Toronto? (The age old rant)

We are a dual income household with a variable mortgage and two kids in daycare. I know this sub shits on homeowners, but we worked our fucking asses off to get where we are, and I just wanted to vent some monthly expenses. We are getting FUCKED all over the place.

Mortgage interest payment has increased over $1k/month since we bought last summer (yes I know, we’re dumb for going variable, excuse us for not being financial experts and listening to professionals we worked with at the time). This one stings the most.

Daycare: $2200/month for two. This is HALF PRICE. My wife works at the centre and this is half price. The centre did not sign onto the “$10/day” because the gov fucked up implementation of this so badly that it would should them down. Have a look at Nova Scotia daycare to see what we’re in store for, it’s not looking good. Anyway…

Gas, electricity, property taxes, food costs all going up meanwhile no change in salaries. Mine actually decreased $20k from previous year (commission based, no one’s fault here but mine).

We’re still very fortunate and are in a better place than many. It just stresses me out daily
