How exactly is the NRA to blame for mass shootings?

Because they constantly lobby to block any effort for sensible gun laws like universal background checks, or the simple idea that gun ownership records should be digital for easy reference, or red flag laws. While I don’t necessarily agree with the red flag laws because they can lead to innocent people getting persecuted by an angry spouse/gf/bf/ex, very few would fall into this category. Universal background checks make sense. Digitized records make sense.

The NRA used to be the voice of sensible gun ownership, hunting and reasonable safety precautions. They are not that organization anymore. They’ve become a voice for the extreme right who believe that the big bad government is gonna try to take your guns away despite everything that moderate and left leaning politicians say.
