How to explain menstrual pains to collegues?

Frankly, I’m not shy about the existence of periods.

I work in an office of eight and only two are female. One of which is married to another office dweller. They know when I have doctors appointments, when we’re PMSing and take it easy on us because we are honest about our hormone situation. Most men get it enough to not make a fuss about it and leave us alone, or at least activate their duck feathers.

When they ask you if you feel okay, it is perfectly okay to say “it’s that time of the month.” Or shamelessly pull out a bottle of midol and pop it mid convo like it’s an Advil.

You spend 8 hours 5 days a week with these people. They will learn your mood cycle whither you like it or not. They aren’t nearly as clueless as the media leads us to believe and I personally that honesty is the best policy.
