How do you feel about the controls in Samus Returns?

I don't have any issues with any of the new features and how they control. I'm mildly salty about not being allowed to rebind. I'm extremely salty about how disgustingly inconsistent everything involving the morph ball is, and how hard it is to crouch without turning around and shooting in the wrong direction, costing you valuable energy. I feel like this game's Samus would be an amazing powerhouse to control IF ONLY I had access to consistent controls.

To elaborate on the morph ball issues:

  1. The spider ball will randomly deactivate without me letting go of the button and randomly fail to stick to walls if I jump into them. And nothing from any other game on my 3DS has ever made me suspect my L trigger is broken or something. It seems very not broken to me.

  2. Almost every time I jump up to a platform with enemies and then proceed to crouch to shoot those enemies, despite only tapping down once to crouch, i somehow end up in morph ball mode and get hurt before I realize what happened. I can't reproduce this when enemies aren't around, and so I can't figure out exactly what's going wrong.

  3. When I try to leave the morph ball in the middle of being attacked by enemies, I often have to press up several times before the game finally figures it out. I can solve this one by using the touch screen or the counter button to leave the morph ball, but as someone who's finished all the other games and AM2R and 100%ed all of them except Super, it's extremely hard to train myself out of the old habit and into that. Once again, I can't reproduce this when enemies aren't around, and so I can't figure out exactly what's going wrong.
