How to fix my takedowns?

You should ALWAYS set up your takedowns. Whether it's throwing a faint or setting up in the clinch be sure to always set it up so as to throw your opponent off guard.

If you want to set it up from standing throw a jab or two and wait for the counter then go for a leg. If you're in the clinch I like to do a 2 on 1 arm drag then go for a single.

To have a good wrestling offense and take people at will (without a set up) you must have a certain level of athleticism. Condition by doing squats and duck walks and you'll see how much more comfortable (and faster) you'll feel when going in for a takedown. From there it's all a matter of timing and confidence.
