How do I go from just realizing I’m an extreme over consumer and social media addict to living a real, frugal life?

This is weird because it’s literally an advertisement I saw on YouTube, but it did stick with me: “You’ll never regret the things you didn’t buy, but the experiences you didn’t have,” or something vaguely like that. Keeping that in mind, maybe write down a sort of experiences bucket list, and when you catch yourself mindlessly scrolling, get up and go do them! Or if they’re grander things, remind yourself of the steps you need to take in order to do it. Also, when it comes to online shopping, what really works for me is to make a sort of wishlist. Favorite the items or add them to your cart, whatever. And keep it there for a week. Usually after mulling over it for days or weeks, I realize I really actually don’t want or need it. Whenever I don’t do this and impulse buy something, I always regret it.
