How have you gotten over the fear of pooping in public?

I literally have a story that nearly scared me from pooping in public for life lol. I was about about 13 and at a end of the year lock in at some classmates house. My stomach was killing me and I finally gave in and tried to discreetly go to their bathroom. I ended up going...a lot... and it wouldn't flush. I freaked out and ended up running out of the bathroom hoping nobody would notice me. 5 minutes later some boy says, "someone just left a giant shit in the bathroom" and the rest of the night people were talking about who took the shit that clogged the toilet. It didnt help that I was a really self conscious girl to begin with
